Sharon Phillips serves as the Public Information Officer for the City of Zachary. She has worked in public relations for over 35 years, specializing in government relations.
As the Public Information Officer, she serves to nourish good citizenship by promoting and earning public trust; and high-quality service by consistently communicating with citizens about their needs and aspirations; works with Council members, the Mayor, and all City of Zachary departments so that procedures, programs, and events within the government will be appropriately reported to the public.
She works with each city department to plan and promote special events, groundbreakings, and ribbon cuttings. She generates and distributes press releases and manages questions from press and media outlets. In addition, she oversees all city social media accounts.
In 2019, she was named "Zachary Citizen of the Year" by the Zachary Chamber of Commerce. She has devoted herself to charitable work benefiting the Zachary community and other causes for numerous years. She is a member of the Zachary Rotary Club, the Zachary Beautification Committee, the National Public Information Officers Association (NIOA), the Zachary Historical Board, and a past member of the Zachary Food Pantry.
