John C. Hopewell, III, a resident of Zachary for 42 years, was appointed the Zachary City Attorney in 2011. In that capacity, he is the chief legal officer for the City of Zachary. Prior to his appointment, he served as an Assistant City Attorney representing the City before municipal boards and the City Council upon the absence of and at the request of the prior City Attorney. With over 33 years of private practice experience handling commercial and residential transactional real estate related matters, corporate and political subdivision governance, commercial collections, and successions, he presently serves as the managing member and principal operating officer for Certain Title & Escrow, LLC and for the Hopewell Law Firm, LLC. In general commercial practice for the first nine years of his professional legal career, he shared that firm's general responsibilities for clients with bankruptcy, real property and a variety of other commercial litigation concerns. He has been a Notary Public since 1984 and worked as a correspondent banking and commercial loan officer during a banking career prior to graduation from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center on the campus of Louisiana State University (B.S. - 1980, J.D. - 1991). He has served on numerous boards including the Zachary Chamber of Commerce and presently serves on the Board of Directors of Guaranty Bank & Trust Company – New Roads.

Assistant City Attorney
L.T. Dupre, III has served as an attorney for the City of Zachary in various capacities for over ten years. In 2020, he was appointed Assistant City Attorney. As Assistant City Attorney, he is the named attorney for the ABC Board, the Fire & Police Civil Service Board, the Municipal Employees Civil Service Board, and the Planning and Zoning Commission. He also provides support for (and stands in for) the City Attorney and City Prosecutor, in their absence or unavailability.
L.T. is an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former master-level teacher and high school coach and graduate of L.S.U. (Bachelor of Science), Southern University (Master of Education) and L.S.U.'s Paul M. Hebert Law Center (Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctorate).
L.T. married Stacey L. Dupre in 1997 and they have lived in Zachary since.
L.T. was licensed to practice law in 2005 and since then, he has maintained a private practice in Zachary.
