New $2M Communications Tower Coming to Zachary

Posted by zachary on January 19, 2024

The City of Zachary will soon see a new $2 million communications tower on the horizon on Port Hudson-Pride Road. The EBR Communications District Board allocated funding for the new tower. Members of the EBR Communications Board include Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, Zachary Mayor David McDavid, Baker Mayor Darnell Waites, Central Mayor Wade Evans, EBR EMS Director Michael Denicola, and BR Fire Chief Michael Kimble.

At the Zachary Council Meeting on December 12, 4.91 acres, owned by Larry Powenski, were annexed into the City of Zachary, which will house this tower. The closest tower to this area is on Gurney Lane in Central. While serving as Police Chief, Mayor McDavid and Zachary Fire Chief Danny Kimble recognized the need to add a new tower to enhance first responder connections with police, sheriff, fire, and EMS. Mayor McDavid highlighted the economic benefits of adding a tower in this location, such as increased property values and potential for new business opportunities.

The City of Zachary would like to thank property owner Larry Powenski and members of the EBR Communications District for their partnership and the positive impact the new tower will bring to our community.
