How do I apply for employment with the City of Zachary?        
If you are interested in a municipal civil service position, you can come to City Hall at 4700 Main Street and pick up an application or print it from the website. When submitting your application, you must submit a copy of your high school diploma or equivalent along with a copy of your valid driver’s license.  If you are applying for a posted position, you must submit your application by the posted deadline.

If you are interested in a fire or police civil service position you have to contact the fire and police civil service boards secretary Dana LeJeune at 225-654-0023.

How do I find out what job openings the City of Zachary has?

All job openings will be posted in the City of Zachary official journal, The Zachary Plainsman.  They will also be listed on the website under “Employment."

What pre-employment testing is required?

If you are chosen for employment with the City of Zachary, you will be required to undergo and successfully complete certain pre-employment tests before being offered the position.  These tests include criminal background check, pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug screen, and work savers.

Will I have to take a civil service exam?

Depending on the position that you are applying for will determine if there is an exam.  All exam dates and times will be posted with the job opening.

As a City of Zachary employee, you have the option to participate in our group benefits package that includes health, dental and life insurance.  Also as a City of Zachary employee you will be enrolled in a municipal retirement system that is determined by the department you are employed (municipal, fire or police).
