City of Zachary Storm Briefing

This morning, Mayor David McDavid held a storm briefing with all City of Zachary department heads to ensure the city is prepared for the incoming storm. Public works crews have been proactively working on preventative measures, such as inspecting canal drainage systems, cleaning storm drains along major roads, clearing ditches, and assembling barricades. The gas, water, and sewer departments have refueled generators and checked all backup systems, with crews on standby to provide services before and after the storm if needed.

At the Zachary Youth Park, over 600 sandbags have been distributed to residents in low-lying areas, and deliveries were made to elderly residents and those unable to fill their own bags. The City of Zachary will remain open tomorrow, fully staffed and ready to respond, as necessary. The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the Zachary Fire Station will be staffed starting tomorrow morning and remain open throughout the storm.

In an emergency, residents are advised to call 911 for police or fire assistance. For other storm-related inquiries, please get in touch with the Mayor’s Office at 225-654-0287.
