Regional Veterans Park – Wall of Veterans

The Regional Veterans Park is located behind Lane Regional Medical Center, 6300 Main Street.  The purpose of the Regional Veterans Park is to provide citizens of the Zachary region a place to remember and thank those veterans who committed themselves to protecting our rights and freedoms. The park was officially dedicated on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.

The wall of veterans is comprised of approximately 400 bricks, which have been engraved with the names and service information of local veterans.  At the entrance of the park, a 12 foot high metal archway showcases the emblems of all six military branches, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.  Three lighted flag poles have been installed to fly an American flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol, as well as the Louisiana state flag and a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Flag.  A monument to the Association’s late founder, John Taylor, has been installed at the foot of the flag poles to honor Taylor.  It was Taylor’s vision to provide a place to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served or are serving in the armed forces of the United States of America.  Taylor served in the Arkansas National Guard, United States Army and the United States Army Reserve.
