City of Zachary Seeking Input on Proposed City-Wide Walking/Recreational Trail

Would you like to see the City of Zachary develop an Outdoor Recreational Master Plan?

The City of Zachary is seeking input from the community for inclusion and implementation of a proposed “city-wide” walking and recreational trail. This proposed Outdoor Recreational Master Plan is a long term plan for the City that identifies safe walking trail areas while promoting a healthy lifestyle choice.  Upgrading and expanding the existing sidewalk system increases recreational opportunities within our City.  What sets Zachary apart is the quality of life enjoyed by all of its residents.  Pleasant neighborhoods, top-ranked schools, a wide variety of restaurants, shops and stores convenient to residential areas; along with an abundance of recreational activities make Zachary a “smart” choice to call home. The Master Plan will build on existing assets and expand in other areas, all while targeting connectivity,” says Mayor David Amrhein.

The City of Zachary is asking that you visit us online and complete the public survey, located at  Your input is important and will allow us to move forward with the preliminary design phase. Deadline to complete the online survey is Friday, August 18, 2017. The Master Plan is expected to be completed by year’s end.  The actual implementation of the proposed walking trails is a long term goal and wholly dependent upon available grant and local funding.

For additional information on the Outdoor Recreational Master Plan, we encourage you to view Mayor David Amrhein’s new online filming segment, titled “From the Mayor’s Desk” found on the City website here.  Joining Mayor Amrhein for this open discussion of the proposed recreational trail implementation is Mrs. Bianca Hillhouse, Professional Engineer with PEC.
