BackgroundChecks.org is a public safety focused organization committed to increasing public safety, community involvement, transparent government, and education. Each year, they compile a list of safest cities, based on FBI violent crime stats, natural language analysis, social media sentiment analysis and their own research from BackgroundChecks.org. The 2016 report indicates that Zachary’s crime rate is 582.9, meaning residents have a 1.8% chance of being affected by property crime.
"We are extremely proud to have been named the safest city in Louisiana," said Zachary Mayor David Amrhein. "This type of recognition doesn't happen by accident; we have an outstanding police department that proactively works with residents and businesses to ensure a vibrant, safe community for all to call home." Zachary Police Chief David McDavid applauds his police department for their take-charge, community oriented approach to law enforcement, which ultimately lead to our city being named one of the 10 safest cities in Louisiana.
