Waste Management Resumes Garbage Collection After Severe Rain and Flooding
Posted by zachary on August 15, 2016
In a press release issued today, Waste Management has determined it is safe to resume regularly scheduled collection routes on Wednesday, road conditions permitting. With the resumption of service, Waste Management expects to run regularly scheduled residential and commercial routes. However, some streets and other areas may not be safe for operations due to residual rain and flooding effects.
Waste Management residential customers will continue to receive collection of household garbage, such as food refuse, diapers, newspapers and other waste produced. Waste Management is not collecting flood debris. Items such as rugs, furniture, sheet rock, wood fencing, tree limbs, bags of clothing, refrigerators, household appliances and roofing materials are considered flood debris and will be collected through other processes.
The City of Zachary has activated a debris removal contract, effective today for pick-up of flood debris. We will notify residents of the schedule as soon as it is available to us. Meanwhile, residents are encouraged to join us on Facebook at The City of Zachary or log onto our website at www.cityofzachary.org for up to date information.
Waste Management would also like your assistance by separating household garbage from flood debris, including refrigerators, household appliances, tree limbs, carpet and carpet padding, and wood fencing. This will allow the contract cleanup providers a means of identifying and collect that debris.
