City of Zachary to Offer Surplus Items and Goods Online
Posted by xadmin on March 03, 2016
Beginning March 16, bidders will have the chance to make continuous online bids for various surplus items owned by the City of Zachary. The City of Zachary recently contracted with an online government auction site, www.municibid.com, to auction surplus items. Municibid is a convenient and easy-to-use online auction website for governmental agencies, schools, authorities and utilities to sell their surplus and forfeitures directly to the public. All auctions take place online and are available to bid 24 hours a day. The City of Zachary has a wide variety of surplus items, ranging from computers and cell phones to cars and a caboose.
“Use of an online auction, which is an “E-Bay” style platform, provides for greater benefits and cost savings to the City of Zachary and taxpayers. It also allows for greater exposure of surplus items to a broader audience,” says Chip Troth, Purchasing Director. The city isn’t charged any commissions, listing fees or other charges to auction items on Municibid. Successful bidders pay an 8% buyer’s premium directly to Municibid.
