Christmas in the Village Gears Up for a Marvel Super Hero Christmas Celebration

Come kickoff the holiday season and join Zachary Mayor David Amrhein as he welcomes everyone to the “Annual Zachary Christmas In The Village” Celebration on Friday, December 1st from 6 – 9 p.m. The event will take place in the Zachary Historical District, located on Virginia Street behind City Hall and expand to the Fire Station and along Main Street to Lee Street this year. Come meet and greet the Marvel super-hero characters, Captain America, Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Rocket Raccoon with Groot. The village will come alive with synchronized Christmas light displays, a live nativity hosted by Zachary United Methodist Church, Christmas movies on the big YMCA screen, Christmas performances and music and a visit from Santa. A traveling petting zoo will be on location, offering children an opportunity to learn and play with real life farm animals. Drop by the Fire Station and hop aboard the fire truck and take a picture!
Christmas performances by local dance studios, area churches and school choirs will surely get you into the holiday spirit, providing musical and dance entertainment throughout the night at the BREC Stage in the village. Children are invited to write their Christmas wish lists to Santa and mail them at the mailbox near the McHugh House. Grab your camera for a picture with Santa!
Other activities include face painting, BREC yard games, and an arts and crafts area with over 20 vendors, so bring your Christmas list! The Zachary Chamber will host a Pop up Shop, Luxe Emporium Bath and Body At their location on Main Street.
Tours of the Historic McHugh House and The Train Depot, as well as the Old General Store will be open, offering a glimpse of the past. Come hungry, the gourmet food trucks will be returning on location in the City Hall Parking Lot on Main Street. The mobile trucks in attendance will be Pullin Pork, Basel’s Food Market, Rice N Gravy, C.C’s coffee, LA Lemonade, Chloe’s Snowballs, Cup Cake Allie, Datz Pizza, City Gelato, Tucker’s Seafood, Taco de Paco. The Zachary Fire Department will also be offering sausage poboys for sale.
A holiday LED light show, featuring thousands of blinking and twinkling lights synchronized to Christmas music will run every evening from 6 pm to 10 pm in the Zachary Historical District. Motorists are invited to set their radio dials to 105.9 FM and drive through Zachary’s Historic Village, starting December 2nd through January 7th.
